Conflict arises because people have different perspectives about what should happen and how people should act. Differences are heightened by assumptions we make about the other person and by access to different information.
As mediators, we help people to get clear about their needs and to express their perspective for the other person to hear. This process allows all to get a fuller picture of the situation and their options.

Conversations in the aftermath of harm require particular sensitivity and have profound benefits. Giving voice to the motivations, details, and impacts of harmful behavior validates the experience of those involved and provides a foundation for understanding, empathy, and healing.
As restorative dialogue facilitators, we take care to understand participants' intentions and concerns so that we can support their needs.
